A Kobliad, Vantika was criminal who was on the run from the police for more than twenty years. He was pursured relentlessley by security officer Ty Kajada; in 2369 Vantika was aboard a damaged freighter when Bashir and Kira lent assistance; the badly injured Vantika died during the rescue attempt. Kajada refused to believe that Vantika was dead, and although her insistence seemed paranoid at first it gradually became clear that he was indeed still alive, having transferred his consciousness into Bashir.
