A Starfleet officer, Carter was Chief Medical Officer aboard the uSS Exeter under Captain Ronald Tracey. When Tracey's crew were contaminated by an infection from the planet Omega IV, Carter was the last man remaining alive. He recorded a final log entry warning others of the events aboard the ship. After death his body was reduced to a dessicated pile of crystals by the infection. [1]
