A member of USS Equinox's crew, Lessing supported his Captain's use of the bodies of an alien species to boost the performance of the ship's warp drive. [2] He was captured by Voyager when Janeway challenged Captain Ransom's actions. After the Equinox was destroyed Lessing was stripped of his rank and integrated into Voyager's crew. [3]
