A Kraylor scientist, Loken developed a cloaking device to assist his people in their war with the Annari. It was his hope that cloaked ships would be able to penetrate the Annari blockade of his planet. When the Annari discovered and attacked his ship on its trial runs, the captain and officers were killed. Harry Kim and Seven of Nine lent assistance to the damaged ship; Loken asked Ensign Kim to take command as he had experience of starship operations. Kim agreed, and despite some disagreements with Loken ultimately delivered the ship back to his home planet successfully. [1]
