Surak

TimelineQuotes
Universe : Prime Timeline
Name : Surak [1]
Species : Vulcans

Regarded as one of the greatest Vulcans who ever lived, Surak developed the philosophy of achieving peace and harmony through the supression of all emotion. He was a dedicated pacifist who refused to resort to violence under any circumstances. In 2263 the Excalbians recreated Surak as part of their project to study the concepts of good and evil. [1]

Surak was killed during the time of the Great Awakening, dying of radiation poisoning on Mount Seleya shortly before the last of the battles in that war. Little of his original writings survived, and many of the copies which had been made were subject to significnat degrees of interpretation. This led to at least one civil war in 2154. Surak's katra was preserved in a katric ark, where it remained until discovered by Syrran in 2137. Syrran melded with the ark and carried Surak's katra for many years before his death in 2154, allowing him to form the Syrrannite movement based directly on Surak's teachings. He passed the katra to Captain Archer, who carried it for a time during the brief Vulcan civil war of that year. [2]
