T'Pring was the 'fiance' of Commander Spock. In line with Vulcan tradition the two were telepathically bonded at age seven. When the time for full marriage came T'Pring chose to have Spock engage in combat with Captain Kirk instead, reasoning that even if he won he would leave in disgrace, allowing her to pursue a relationship with her lover Stonn.1
