A follower of Khan Singh, Joaquim took part in the attempted hijack of the USS Enterprise when it rescued Khan and his group from the Botany Bay. The attempt failed, and the group was marooned on Ceti Alpha V by Kirk.2 When Ceti Alpha VI exploded the planet's ecosystem was badly damaged, devastating Khan's settlement. Joaquim managed to escape Ceti Alpha V when Khan hijacked the USS Reliant. He served as helmsman on the ship during its battles with the USS Enterprise; Joaquim was killed in the Motarra Nebula battle by phaserfire from the Enterprise.1
