Leader of the Hill People on the planet Neural, Tyree was husband to the Kahn-ut-tu woman Nona. Nona often claimed that she had caused Tyree to fall in love with her using magic potions, and given he knowledge of the apparent biochemical effect of many of the plants and animals on the planet this may well have been the case. When the Villagers began attacking the Hill People with primitive firearms Tyree was reluctant to fight back against them, despite Nona's urgings. However, when Nona was murdered by the Villagers Tyree flew into a rage and launched a war against them. He requested weapons from Captain Kirk to assist him, and since the Klingons were supplying the firearms that the Villagers were using, Kirk agreed.1
