An El-Aurian, Martus used his listening skills in order to perpetrate various small time cons on people. He was arrested on Deep Space nine in 2370, but the complainants refused to press charges and he was released. He obtained a small gambling device whilst in Odo's cells, and used this to set up a bar on the Promenade. When it became apparent that the device functioned by altering the laws of probability, it was destroyed as a threat to the station.1
