A member of the Maquis, Kalita was part of the group which Ro Laren infiltrated in 2370. Although initially distrustful, Kalita came to believe that Ro was serious about becoming a member of the group after the two stole medical supplies from the Enterprise-D. In fact Ro was working for Starfleet, but she became convinced that the Maquis were justified in their actions and joined them for real.1 Kalita was also part of the group which stole the USS Defiant in 2371.2
