Mother to Geordi, Silva LaForge was the captain of the Starship Hera. Her ship vanished without trace in 2370, leading Starfleet to suspect that it had been destroyed in some fashion. Silva was impersonated by alien beings on Marijne VII shortly after her dissapearence, leading Geordi to believe that she was still alive.1
