The head of the Stellar Cartography department of the Enterprise-D during 2369, Daren became romantically involved with Captain Picard shortly before the ship's mission to Bersalis III. She almost lost her life on the Bersalis mission, and Picard realised that he would never again be able to order her into danger if their relationship continued. Daren decided to resolve the situation by transfering off the ship.1
