Farallon was the director of a revolutionary new mining technology known as the particle fountain which was being tested on Carema III. The project suffered many delays, which led to her development of the Exocomp units. Farallon was initially wary of Data's theory that the Exocomps constituted a new life form, but she became more open minded when they saved Captain Picard and LaForge from an accident on board the mining station.1
