A native of Krios, Kamala was an empathic metamorph who was able to sense what a potential mate desired in a woman and become that for him. She was to be a gift to Ulrik of Vault as part of the negotiations to end the war between the two planets. During the trip to Vault Minor aboard the Enterprise-D, Kamala became romantically interested in Captain Picard. So great were her feelings for Picard that she bonded to him, fixing her personality in that state permanently. Despite this she continued with her marriage to Ulrik.1
