Willie was a civilian who lived aboard the Enterprise-D in 2366. Nine years old, he was fond of playing practical jokes on his brother Jake. Jake got his own back by making Willie think that he had killed him. Willie was so afraid that he hid amongst some Cove Palm plants; the parasites in the plants poisoned Willie, requiring treatment at a Starbase. Despite an unwanted diversion caused by Doctor Soong, the ship was ultimately able to reach Starbase 416 in time.1
