Leader of the planet Argelius, Jaris was shocked when it appeared that Scotty had murdered a woman on his planet in 2267. Further deaths followed, including that of his wife. Despite the urgings of Mister Hengist, Jairs allowed Captain Kirk to investigate the crimes and exonerate Scotty.1
