He was present in 2368 when the ship lent assistance to a damaged Romulan science vessel.2 In 2369 Commander Riker had planned to ask McDowell to use a Class V probe to scan Cardassian territory, but changed his mind when the shifts were rearranged by Captain Jellico.3
