A Vissian cogenitor, Charles spent most of its life living as a second class citizen according the norms of its culture. It lacked a name and education and was discouraged from showing any interest in the world around it. When Commander Tucker encountered the Vissians in 2153, he encouraged the cogenitor to be curious about its surroundings. It even chose to take Trip's first name, Charles, as its own. Charles requested asylum aboard the NX-01, but Captain Archer decided that he should return it to the Vissians to preserve good relations and not interfere with their culture. Charles subsequently committed suicide.1
