One of Earth's great pioneering scientists, Henry Archer worked for many years on the Warp Five project. Although many felt that the Vulcan's refusal to assist in the project held Archer's work back, he himself defended the Vulcans. He encouraged his son to explore the unknown despite the risks that may be involved.1 Henry had an uncompromising attitude to life - when his son Jonathan worried about failing flight school, Henry's advice was a simple "don't fail".2 Henry died of Clarke's disease3 when his son was 12.4
