A Klingon, Laneth was selected as one of the test subjects in the Klingon project to develop Augments based on the Human DNA recovered in 2154. She contracted the virus which resulted from the project, and as a result lost her cranial ridges. Laneth was one of those who raided the NX-01 whilst it was searching for Phlox in 2154.2 She was somewhat dismissive of Marab's apparent death at the hands of unaugmented Humans, even though Klingon tradition dictated that this would be an honourable way to die. Laneth was concerned that her alterations had weakened her psychologically, since she felt fear whilst in combat on the Enterprise for the first time since childhood.3
