A Starfleet command officer, Komack oversaw several of the missions conducted by the USS Enterprise. He ordered the ship to investigate Omicron Ceti III and to evacuate the colonists to Starbase 27.2 He initially refused the Enterprise permission to divert from her mission to Altair VI so as to return Spock to Vulcan, but after a request from T'Pau he changed his mind.3 When the Enterprise proved unable to alter the course of the asteroid Yonada, Komack ordered the ship clear of the area.4
