A Starfleet officer who was stranded on hostile planet, Cusak managed to make voice contact with the Defiant and call for rescue. The took several days to reach her location, during which various members of the crew forged friendships with Cusak over the comm line. On reaching the planet it was discovered that a temporal distortion had been projecting her voice years into the future; Cusak herself had died long before the Defiant ever heard her call for help.1
