A leading member of Section 31, Sloan was involved in many nefarious activities in support of what he percieved as the Federation's best interests. He attempted to recruit Dr. Bashir into the organisation, but was unsuccessful.2 Bashir did agree to participate in a Section 31 mission in 2375 in order to expose Sloan, but Sloan managed to outwit the Doctor.3 Bashir managed to lure Sloan to Deep Space Nine and capture him in order to force information out of him regarding the virus which Section 31 had developed to destroy the Founders. Although Bashir was successful in his mission, Sloan committed suicide during the attempt.4
