Review : "The Flight of the Phoenix" meets "The Galileo Seven", with occasional touches of Agatha Christie - an interesting premise at least. The writing is a bit dodgy in places, but the idea was not bad. The woman in the lift car seemed to be there purely as a plot driver, needlessly threatening Neelix and then just doing what the script demanded. Still, with slight references to "For the World is Hollow..." (synthetic asteroids) and "The Immunity Syndrome" (tri-ox compound), it is good to know that someone pays attention to TOS. These were much more subtle, not the slap-in-the-face references we often get. It was also interesting to see a space elevator and get a general idea of how it might be used. After the Dyson Sphere, that's good as well. Still, on dramatic merit, it's a fairly simple episode, although definitely watchable.

Review : I quite liked this episode, mainly because they explored the concept of a "Space Elevator". One of the few episodes in voyager which warrants the "sci" in the "sci-fi". Still, it could have been handled better. The woman in the space-elevator seemed not to serve much of a purpose. Similarly with the second male with the scientist. They just seemed to be there to make it harder for us to pick out the traitor. Also, Voyager jumping in to defend a species they just met without any concerns about the prime directive seemed a bit odd. Other than that though, a very watchable episode.
