A story that could not make up its mind. The story of the Cloud itself was way too short to stretch for a whole hour, so the bits in the middle had to go in. They seemed to be an attempt to fit in as much character development for everyone as possible, and I think they overdid it. If maybe we had had Sandrine's for one episode and the captain meeting her Gecko in another episode, then it might have been a bit easier. We never saw the Gecko again, nor did we ever meet Chakotay's animal guide, so that's an unexplored avenue. As for the Cloud, that was a simple 'It's alive!' plot that was neatly wrapped up. OK, I suppose. |
