Title : Vanguard Book 1 : Harbinger Rating : 5
Writers : David Mack Year : 2005
Review : Star Trek vanguard: Harbinger is one of the best books I have read. It takes the same quality character interplays as the television series and sets it in a different environment to normal, a starbase with all the diplomatic and administrative challenges within. The book is based on one single story, elaborated in the other two books in the series, But there are several smaller plots that converge together to produce the ending in Vanguard: Reap the Whirlwind. The characters are well thought out and introduce new conepts (Namely the homosexuality of Lt. Cmdr. T'Prynn) and still manages to make it a tru star trek story. A must read in my opinion.
Title : The Dominion War 4 : Sacrifice of Angels Rating : 5
Writers : Diane Carey Year : 1998
Review : This book is one of the best in my collection, showing Diane Carey's capabilities to their best. It includes all of the events of the fateful television episode and adds in detail that just cannot be used introduced into a televised programme. The writing is effective, emotive and conforms well to good grammar. the story is compelling and adds another layer to the familiar tale of Sacrifice of Angels. A definate must read.
Title : Chrysalis Rating : 3
Writers : David Niall Wilson Year : 1997
Review : I bought this book for 50p in a charity book store. And it has served me well. The story is fairly compelling, although not the most exciting i've encountered. It fits in nicely with the timeline, doesnt mess with Canon and keeps to characters fairly well. The author wrote this book competantly and published a good book.
