Review : This is a great book that contains both characters from The Original Series and the Next Generation, and continues the storyline of the Reunification of Romulans and Vulcans and the storyline of beloved character Montgomery "Scotty" Scott! The plotline: Spock is captured while on a trip to teach the ways of Surak to one of the colony worlds of the Romulan Empire. The govenor of that world, though, doesn't know who he has captured. Dispatched to rescue Spock, is Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of the Enterprise-D, as this takes place during one of the last seasons of The Next Generation. On the Enterprise to offer assistance is Admiral McCoy, Spock's old comrade and friend. Bones provides a lot of humor and satisfaction in this story, as he is even more crusty than he was last time we saw him. The satisfaction comes in when we discover, well, we really knew the whole time, that Bones really does care for Spock. Unfortunately, for a good part of the story, the Enterprise just sits on the edge of the Romulan Neutral Zone, waiting for orders, not daring to go inside. Scotty, who has been in contact with the Enterprise and apprised of Spock's situation, pilots his shuttle over to The Fleet Museum and steals an old Constitution class ship, right out from under their noses. It's really quite wonderful to read that Scotty, forever the miracle worker, is having problems running an old Constitution class ship by himself. To complicate matters, he also steals the old Romulan cloaking device and hooks it up to his ship, which is heading straight for the Romulan Neutral Zone in an attempt to help Spock by himself. All in all, it's really an entertaining book. The action jumps between Spock in captivity, the Enterprise, and Scotty on the Constitution ship. Numerous references are made to previous episodes and Trek fans will definately enjoy remembering them as they read.

Review : Spock,McCoy and Scotty meet again on the Enterprise-D. It's a continuation of Unification mostly, plus we learn what Scotty did with the shuttle Picard loaned him. McCoy proves a bad decision maker. Readable, a nice way to spent your time if you've got nothing to do. The plot is rather predictable, expect no major surprises (save one) but a few nice funny moments make it worth it. Whoever loves TOS will adore it, everybody else will enjoy it.
