Illness

Melvaran Mud Flea Virus

Melvaran Mud Flea Virus1
A disease which affected Humans in the mid 23rd century. There was a readily available vaccine for the virus, though it came with the same symptoms as the virus itself - a bad headache, a flop sweat, loss of vision in the left eye and nausea. In extreme cases the reaction to the vaccine could lead to very swollen hands, a dangerously high heart rate, and numb tongue. James Kirk was given the vaccine by Leonard McCoy in 2358 so that, as McCoy's patient, he could be taken aboard the Enteprise in spite of his academic suspension. Kirk had the most extreme reaction to the vaccine that McCoy had seen since medical school.1
