Plotline : B'Elanna discovers that she is pregnant, and when the EMH does a projection of what the baby will look like based on its DNA she is shocked to find that her daughter will have Klingon head ridges. Desperate to avoid inflicting the misery of her own childhood on her daughter, B'Elanna wants to modify the baby in vitro to remove the ridges. When Tom and the EMH object on ethical grounds, B'Elanna feels that she has no other choice but to take drastic measures.

YATI : Genetic engineering is supposed to be illegal in the Federation, at least according to DS9. So how come it is the treatment of choice for a deviated spine?
Great Moment : Tom, finally twigging to why B'Elanna is so scared of her daughter being Klingon and assuring her that she has nothing to worry about.
