James Doohan as Ensign Dawson Walking BearJames Doohan as Kukulkan
Plotline : Tracking an alien probe, the Enterprise encounters a vessel which is surrounded by an energy field. When the field also engulfs the Starship, the alien vessel transforms into the shape of Kulkukan, a large feathered serpent from an ancient Mayan-Aztec legend. Kulkukan transports Kirk, Scott, McCoy, and Ensign Walking Bear to his ship to solve a puzzle in an ancient Earth-like city setting.

YATI : At one point, we see a wide shot of the bridge; Uhura is drawn as a caucasian.
Great Moment : Seeing the first Native American Starfleet officer on Star Trek; it's always nice to see more of Earth's cultural diversity depicted, and TAS beat Voyager to it by decades!
Body Count :
Factoid : The episode title is from a Shakespeare quote : "How sharper than a serpent's tooth it is to have a thankless child." from King Lear, Act I, Scene 4.

My year for this episode is estimated from the Stardate; this is one of a group of TAS episodes set after the last known Stardate for TOS.
