Mudd's Passion

Series : The Animated Series Rating : 1 Random Image
Disc No : 2 Episode : 10
First Aired : 10 Nov 1973 Stardate : 4978.5
Director : Hal Sutherland Year : 2268
Writers : Stephen Kandel Season : 1
Guest Cast :
James Doohan as Human minerJames Doohan as Male Ursinoid miner
Majel Barrett as LoraNichelle Nichols as Female Ursinoid miner
Roger C. Carmel as Harcourt Fenton Mudd
Plotline : Kirk arrests Harry Mudd for selling "love crystals" to miners on the planet Motherlode. Mudd escapes, kidnapping Chapel and stealing a shuttle. Meanwhile his crystals cause havoc on the ship. Can Kirk track Harry down and reverse the effects of the potion?
Analysis : Again we rehash TOS, this time by bringing Harry Mudd back. I don't mind Mudd's re-appearence as he was already a recurring character. The story has no real content as such; it mostly serves as an excuse to have the Enterprise crew behave out of character again, something done several times in TOS.

Factoid : My year for this episode is estimated from the Stardate. It falls between 'The Paradise Syndrome' and 'The Enterprise Incident'.

This episode is a nominee for the DITL "Worst of Trek" award.
