Review

Series : Enterprise Rating : 1
Disc No : 2.2 Episode : 35
First Aired : 20 Nov 2002 Stardate : Unknown
Director : Patrick Norris Year : 2152
Writers : Chris Black Season : 2
Guest Cast :
Matthew Kaminsky as Cunningham
Moral :
Obsession : Just how deep is your navel
YATI : Not a nit, just an observation. This is, of course, one in a long line of similar episodes dating all the way back to TOS's "The Naked Time". The reason that Trek likes to do these episodes is that by relaxing the character's inhibitions they give us a peek into the desires that drive them. It's a fast way of telling us more about the characters. But in this episode the characters focus on whatever they were doing when they were affected. As a result, we really learn nothing new about them.
A more minor but more nit-like point; Trip mentions that the inertial microdampers in Archer's chair will keep him sitting safely even if the ship is shaking itself apart. Okay... so why have these never been used in chairs in Trek?
Great Moment : The effects of the asteroid field were well done.
Body Count : Zero deaths. T'Pol neck pinches Phlox, thus saving Mayweather from having a chunk of his brain removed.
Factoid : Writer Chris Black has been a writer on no less than eight Enterprise episodes.
Quote : "Reed alert. That's not bad!" - Reed to Trip, contemplating the name for his new alert.

Plotline

When Enterprise investigates a black hole in a trinary star system, unusual radiation begins to affect the crew - making all of the Humans become obsessed by trivial matters.
