Director : Avery Brooks Year : 2372
Writers : Rene Echevarria Season : 4

Susanna Thompson as Dr. Lenara KahnTim Ryan as Dr. Bejal Otner
Plotline : Jadzia Dax meets Lenara Khan, a Trill whos former host was married to one of Dax's former hosts. A strong trill taboo exists forbidding any romantic reassociation between such couples, but as they work together the women find themselves strongly attracted to one another. Finally, Dax takes the plunge and asks Lenara to stay with her - even though it would mean exile and eventual death for both of them.

YATI : So Lenara is creating the first ever artificial wormhole, is she? What about the one in "Star Trek : The Motion Picture" that was created by the imbalance in the Enterprise's warp drive? Doesn't that count as being artificial?

I guess this taboo against reassociation is taken more seriously by some than it is by others. After all, Odan seemed perfectly happy to carry on his relationship with Doctor Crusher through three different hosts.

Great Moment : The kiss. Apparently Terry Farrel was less than enthusiastic about having to kiss another woman, but she pulls it off well.
Body Count : Zero.
Factoid : This is the first Star Trek episode to feature a kiss between two people of the same gender.
Quote : "I've lived seven lifetimes, and I have never had a friend quite like you." - Dax to Sisko.
