UPDATED: The deal is done, with Disney confirming Deadline’s scoop. Abrams will direct and also co-write the film with Chris Terrio.

A safe thing, given their director problems. Kathleen Kennedy's worked with JJ before, JJ is a producer on the new films. For sure, no more directors are getting fired.

Expect a terribly weakly developed Mary Sue character with no weaknesses because #feminism. Abrams makes terrible characters.
