It's not out until October 2016. See what the price is then.

How is it, Striker? I ordered mine this week via Amazon, and it should be here tomorrow.

Out of curiosity... How did the gift-giver acquire that? Is it commercially available or custom?

Well, leafing through it...

Nothing from Beyond, which due to the publication date, is totally expected and forgivable. Nothing from the Animated Series, though... which I disagree with. They wanted to honor Gene's wishes to omit it from the canon. Except he's dead, and from what I've heard about how he handled legal stuff back then... not a fan.

But other than that, it's big, glossy, well-organized. Stuff from the Kelvin timeline has a dot besides the name, so it's easy to keep track of. Lots of pictures and charts. Overall, money well spent for me.

Found it on eBay. They have all sorts of Trek posters on there, all the way up to A0 in size.

Four months later, I finally decided to crack this open this weekend. It was enjoyable and I love the feel of paper, and yet with Memory Alpha/Beta, DITL, ex-Astris, etc., it almost seems unnecessary. 20 years ago, that would have been the greatest book ever made by anyone about anything at any time ever. Today, it seems a quaint bit of nostalgia and a great tribute to 50 years, but has nowhere near the functionality the original Encyclopedia had compared to any other reference.

Of course, I suppose the same argument could be made for any book in modern times, and I'll still be one to love libraries and bookstores... but that's a discussion for another day.
