I pick up my first set of GCSE results tomorrow...a lot of my future depends on how they turn up especially since all my critical qualifications like both English's and maths are in it. Slightly worried now. I know there's nothing I can do about it, but still apprehensive.

Well, I certainly hope you don't get hit with the crap that we did over here today.

Today the offers for places in universities in Ireland were to be released, but some wanker(s) launched a denial of service attack on the Central Applications Office website, preventing anyone from seeing whether they were accepted or not for most of the day.

After nine shipping delays and a total of seven weeks since I purchased it, my new refrigerator has arrived. Shiny, compact - same interior volume as the old one, but much smaller exterior dimensions - and not constantly dripping from a bad element in the defroster.

The new one has an ice maker too. BTW, if there's someone out there with more plumbing knowledge than me - would I find the valve for the water line to the fridge under my kitchen sink?

Most of the time its not already there unless your old fridge had a ice maker. But yeah it will be attached to the cold water line under the sink, if the valve is there it will be in the wall which makes life really hard for u. If you need to install the valve yourself, let me know and I'll give you detailed instructions

To detail that we must look at how our certificates work:

GCSE (General Certificate of Standard Education): These are the baseline, the core of your education. You need 5 C grade and above to get into college. They are a traditional course, with lecture and record notes, its a very structured way of learning.

FS/Vocational: these are generally courses for the non-academic people. They are centered around actual real world work, instead of pure retention and recollection of information such as a GCSE is. They generally don't have A/B/C grades etc. They are either a pass or a fail. No questions. Level 1 pass is a E-D grade. Level 2 pass is a C-A* grade. They count like another GCSE.

Diplomas: Like supervocational courses, they take a certain "area" and turn it into a course. Generally they are bloody heard work, and a lot more intensive than either GCSE's or Vocationals, but you do less of them. I currently do one in Creative and media (which I hate, I am more of an academic).

In my case i had the graded GCSE's, and the 3 A-C passes were FS or Functional skills.
