Anyway wasn't the books originally developed from a picture of a downed NX-02? Or was that included in it?

I think it's a depiction of a TNG/DS9 discovery of it. If you look closely they're wearing VOY/early DS9 style uniforms as well.

Yeah it was discovered sometime in the 2370's.

Interesting just the bow is damaged and not even that much.

I love the image, but the scale of the ship seems off to me. It's a good deal smaller than it should be, IMO.

I never noticed that. Seems like the ship shrunk by a third or more. You can just tell by the bridge module.

The scale looks more like the size I would've made the NX-class, personally. Not the way it was presented on-screen, of course.

There's a guy looking in one of the windows on the saucer on the lower left. Looks about the right size to me. The NX's weren't that big.

No they were not. Actually I think those people are not a constant scale. I am just judging by the people by the bridge.

It's a long lens as opposed to a wide so it seems to skew the scale a little.

Well I went on DITL and used the size charts to put an NX next to a Danube... and the scale really does look quite far off to me.
