Palpatine Dead, Remaining Jedi Called in Front of Senate

In a hearing lasting several days of almost unbelievable testimony from Jedi Masters Obi-Wan Kenobi and Grand Master Yoda the Senate and public were left in an uproar after hearing a complete recounting of both the origin of and the conclusion of the Clone Wars, which cost the galaxy untold trillons of credits and billions of lives.

A near unanimous vote was cast shortly there after stripping the Jedi Order of their official powers for what was termed a "Frightening lapse of security and common sense" by one senator.

The Jedi Temple will be retained as a historical site but the Jedi order will have no official function in society going forward. One senator said it was time for average people to seize control of their own lives.

Most Senators Recalled by Governments

Shortly after these revelations most governments recalled their senators and sent new representation. These new senators arrived with explicit instructions to curtail the power of the central government and take back many powers from the Republic.

To repay its debts to its member worlds the Republic will be transferring ownership of its vast military assets to various sector governments who will be responsible for their own defense to ensure that power can never again be concentrated in the manner it was under the short lived Emperor.

The Republic's new role prevents it from collecting taxes outside of Coruscant and reduces its primary function to providing a common diplomatic ground for the smaller governments and providing a common trading market for all powers.

It is unknown what new order will emerge with this virtual collapse of the Republic but many systems are rumored to be looking to settle old scores already, with the Republic largely reduced to impotence.

Malastare, Illum fall to combined Sluis Van and Billbringe based Forces

The fall of Illum should not come as a surprise to those who have studied the galactic map. It secures one of the major clockwise moving routes in the northern portion of the galaxy and as such is a valuable planet even without taking into consideration its people and resources. This system was assaulted by a combined task force that was able to quickly overwhelm the defenses and compel the surrender of the isolated system.

A much greater shock was delivered with the fall of Malastare, a major system near the core. Again a combined task force fought a battle against the defending fleet, apparently without prior knowledge of what would be present. The battle was a close run thing with the defenders only surrendering when their fighter cover was gone and they faced the prospect of standoff attacks from the combined forces bombers.

This was followed on rapidly by a land assault by Sluis Van forces. Forces on Malastare fought back bravely and inflicted heavy casualties on the attacking forces but were unable to stem the advance of over 50 armored legions as they lacked the weapons to respond in kind. The planet was then seized.

The apparent arrangement between the two attacking powers has Illum under control of Billbringe and Malastare under the control of Sluis Van.

Jabin falls to Fondor, Bothan Defense Fleet Routed

Fondor was not to be outdone in recent rounds of expansion. It pushed its might first to the planet of Jabin, a strategically located if not otherwise valuable sector and quickly overwhelmed the scattered forces there, compelling its surrender.

In a more daring move the forces of Fondor launched a direct assault on the fleet defending the Bothan homeworld and we successful in routing it from the field. The planet is now under siege from orbit awaiting what seems an inevitable ground assault.

Hutts seize Anison

Even the slothful Hutts joined the expansionist movement as their forces moved to seize the strategic system of Anison. This makes the Hutts on of the major trading powers in the galaxy and gives them a foothold in the race for northern expansion.

Rendili overruns Bespin

In a move clearly aimed at seizing strategic resources before Sullust could do so Rendili forces bypassed other worlds and moved on the distant system of Bespin. There they have seized 17% of the galactic supply of Tibanna gas, a strategic building resource and a necessary good for the highest performance of existing fleets. Fighting there was rumored to be light.

Mon Cal absorbs Corlag, Endor; Creates Bakuran Protectorate; Rebuffed at Theferra

Mon Cal sent envoys, backed by large fleets of starships to force the ascension of Corlag and Endor to their growing collection of territory. They reached an agreement with Bakura for payments and resources in exchange for their protection as well. The Mon Cal Navy was turned back from Theferra where they ran into higher than expected concentrations of heavy bombers, though it is not thought that the system will be able to hold out through the next year.

Expansion Continues

See attached map.

OOC: Nothing much happened but more people overrunning neutral space. I am not going to write news right now. Been a long day and I am a bit sick. Just look at your map. And yes, Coruscant did seize Byss.

Most Remaining Independent Worlds Fall

The number of systems standing alone fell over the past years as the major powers continued to gobble up their smaller neighbors. Those few independent systems that remain are for the most part cut off from the outside world and seem destined to fall in short order should the larger powers wish to continue their conquest.

Billbringe and Correlian Fleets Glower at One Another Above Munlinnist

After the Correllian fleet had cleared out the token defense systems of the system they were prepared to move in and seize the system. However a fleet from Billbringe arrived and after exchanging threatening looks the two governments agreed to defer the issue for further negotiations. Meanwhile the people of the system are left without any real government and are slowly descending into chaos as their fate is debated by two foreign powers.
