We wanted a mission patch, not a mission sash :P

The sentiments are fitting but they are quite long.

Size 8 font :P I was thinking about that actually after posting, perhaps:

"...as far as death is concerned, we men live in a city without walls."

That's better. And it's delightfully vague and abstract, perfect for a fledgling Federation.

And the defenders thereof...

So a shield as the picture/logo/icon/thingy and a motto about protecting. I was thinking the motto should be "Vallo Terra" which translates as defending Earth.

The aegis was the shield of Zeus but normally carried by his daughter Athene. It would probably be properly depicted as an aspis (circular shield with a rim) and bearing the image of Medusa - after Perseus killed her, Zeus affixed Medusa's head to the aegis.

For a motto, how about a classic (if ominous) sentiment from Horace: "Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori."

It's seven words, and three are three letters or less.

When did I get demoted?! :madashell:

I think we can make the longer Greek fit.

T'vaaren is first officer
Harvey, Second.
Now that doesn't mean the CMO can't do bridge duty in the event when on some backwater patrol, or if the CMO is under the watchful eye of a commanding officer (i think there's precedent in Trek) but unfortunately, at least right now in the story, I can't see making the CMO part of the overall chain of command.

Thank you.. but as I said, it's from Horace. It's Latin (and a rather famous bit of Latin poetry.) It translates as "It is sweet and fitting [proper, appropriate] to die [give up one's life] for one's homeland."

I have a mission patch for evaluation ready. It's probably not very good.

I hate to make a criticism, because your work is beautiful... but the UFP was founded in 2161.
