Did you guys notice these problems with the film when you first saw it? What were your first impressions of the movie?

Subconsciously yes. He did a great deal to point out precisely what was wrong was wrong with things that were once only described as being "off".

My gut said often "something is wrong, but I have no clue what". Now I have a big clue.

The Midichlorians pissed me off from the beginning.

Same here. And yeah, the feeling was there. The words... not so much.

There were a few things he points out that I did indeed notice the first time I saw the movie. But he pointed out a lot of stuff that I never conciously realised.

The thing that I didn't pick up on was the ''Two Jedi Knights'' in the opening script...

I remember being very excited for a trilogy about the Clone Wars. The first movie seemed to do nothing to move the plot along and that drove me nuts. I still remember watching the droids and frog people face off Napoleon style and saying "this makes less sense than the little bears."

The stuff about the main characters and the lightsaber duels I don't really recall thinking about, but like others said, they just seemed off.

The moment Obi-Wan and Anakin started to whack at one another while swinging from ropes Earol Flynn style I knew that fight had gone from pretty fucking awesome to pretty fucking stupid. When Obi confidently declared that Anakin should surrender because he held the high ground... well by that point I knew Lucas was an idiot, this just sort of pointed out he was a lazy idiot.
