Hyperdrive

Post by Enkidu »

It has come to my attention that people exist that actually enjoy, and even find funny, the truly, jaw droppingly, bad BBC Sci fi comedy "Hyperdrive". Different strokes for different folks, but that different?
Anyone here with an opinion on it?

Never heard of it. What's it like?

I don't like it, but I try not to hate it simply because it's got Nick Frost in it.

Nick Frost is the bigger guy of the double act with Simon Pegg (in Hot Fuzz and Sean of the Dead).

Is it aired currently? If so, I'll see if I can check it out on BBC-A.

The second season  finished on the BBC a couple of months back; From the IMDb comments it appears that the first series has been shown on BBC America.
The show is about a British spaceship, crewed by incompetent halfwits, looking "after British interests in a changing galaxy".
IMO the show fails as a parody of Star Trek style sci fi shows, a satire on modern Britain, and a stupid people cocking up comedy. However, some people think it succeeds brilliantly.....

Absolutely. It's called, wittily enough, "BBC America." A scarce smattering of Monty Python's Flying Circus, but mostly hours upon hours of Torchwood, Hex, and Footballer's Wives.

To use the immortal response of Jeremy Irons (in both The Klaus von Bulow Story and Disney's The Lion King), when told he was weird:
"You have NO idea."

British Broadcasting Corporation America?

Sounds strangely oxymoronic...

Sorry to double post, but does anyone else get a little shiver down their back when you think of Jeremy Irons having the same dialogue in both The Klaus von Bulow Story and an animated Disney film?

I'd give it a shot if it airs in Canada, I do love Red Dwarf after all.
