The only substance that is light saber resistant was that material Mace had his light saber handle made out of.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Re: Let's fix the prequal trilogy
There's cortosis ore, quantum armor, possibly phrick, but that might be related to cortosis ore in some fashion...

Why? Was he planning on blocking strikes with the hilt?

Then there's the difference between pure cortosis and cortosis weave. One will kill the saber, the other just blocks it.
As for why Mace had his made out of it... no idea.

It's coated in Electrum; I've never heard what the rest of it was made of.

Re: Let's fix the prequal trilogy
In "Star Wars: Purge" Vader fights 8 jedi and none of them knew who he really was. At the end Vader won but he took heavy damage including at least 4 light saber hits, one in the back, one in his arm (it was severed) and one in the leg. At this point there were 5 jedi remaining, then one of the jedi (turned to the dark side) killed one of his colleagues and got killed by Vader, the last 3 almost defeat Vader but were killed by stormtroopers wich arrived just in time, it was in this final part of the battle that he took the 4th light saber hit, this time in the head.
Here we see that Vader's armor is actually an armor and his robotic arms are quite strong, he broke Shadday Potkin's neck with no effort. AFAIK his prosthesis were of the same technology used on Grievous.
Plus we can see a cortosis sword disabling light sabers.

Not to mention that his robotic arms were augmented by force a lot of the time.

Which leads one to believe that he COULD have annialated Obi Wan in ANH, but was toying with him a bit.

Don't forget that Obi Wan had the force on his side as well. Plus he wasn't slowed down by armor, only age. Which as shown by Yoda isn't such a big deal.Mark wrote:Which leads one to believe that he COULD have annialated Obi Wan in ANH, but was toying with him a bit.
On the IMHO side, I do believe that Obi Wan wanted to die. He now had the ability to live through the force which allowed him to be anywhere anytime. He could continue training Luke while not risking the attention he was likely to draw.

Re: Let's fix the prequal trilogy
His lowering his guard pretty much confirms his death wish to me.
Re: Let's fix the prequal trilogy
I disagree. I think he simply realized that there was no escape to be had. He was face to face with Vader, and surrounded by Stormtroopers. He also saw that Luke would try and rescue him as long as he was alive.
He made a choice.

Re: Let's fix the prequal trilogy
Yeah, that he wanted to die. Not seeing how that's really contradicting anything.
Re: Let's fix the prequal trilogy
Not that he WANTED to die. Simply that his death was the only way that would allow the others to escape.

Re: Let's fix the prequal trilogy
His words before hand added that instead of going into the shuttle bay he went towards Vader shows his plan was never to escape. Plus, Vader even said "Escape is not his plan."

Re: Let's fix the prequal trilogy
Maybe that's what Vader assumed. If that was the case, why did Obi Wan fight as long as he did? Hell, he could have just surrendered.
