Paramount makes sequel deal
Paramount makes sequel deal
The thing isn't even out yet, but Paramount has already made a deal to move forward on a sequel. From TrekMovie:
"There was also a large horse in the room, taking up most of it."

Sweet. Good to see that they're committed to it.

Agreed. When you see them commit to something they know they have to come through on everything leading up to it. Gives me hopes for the films.

Not sure how I feel about another movie.
I personally have always prefered the idea of straight to DVD movie mini series.

What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

It's an excellent sign in that they've obviously watched the movie and consider that they have a hit on their hands.
However, do bear in mind that if Trek XI bombs badly at the box office then there will be no Trek XII, no matter what has been signed and agreed on now.

True enough. They'll just by out the contracts on everyone rather then spead the money on a new movie.

Well, it shows Paramount thinks it's good enough to be succesful. Whether it will be, however, is another matter entirely.

One can only hope.
Which is why we should support this movie right?
Any Trek is better than no Trek right?
I KNOW I'm going opening night. W00t. 8)

Re: Paramount makes sequel deal
Well I have seen Watchmen at the movies five times now. I surely cannot allow Trek to fall below that standard!
Actually Ian and I are contemplating finding an IMAX showing to go to. Trek in IMAX has to be hella-cool.

I've never seen a regular movie in IMAX before, but I'm thinking about doing that as well.GrahamKennedy wrote:Actually Ian and I are contemplating finding an IMAX showing to go to. Trek in IMAX has to be hella-cool.

Luckly, I've got one about 10 minutes from home. That is where I'll be on opening night.

IMAX for me as well, even though it's about 20 miles away.

Actually, I can't remember the last time I saw an IMAX movie.
I was going to see Red Flag, but just didn't for some reason.

Re: Paramount makes sequel deal
Looks like this'll be the perfect film for IMAX. As to the decision to sign on for a sequel - while it may be true that it'll be deep-sixed if XI goes paws-up, at least it shows that Paramount has a real proprietary interest in the modern state of the franchise, more than just a one-and-done approach.
