Some new views of the movie...

Post by Lazar »

...in toy form. They've got a phaser, a tricorder and a communicator, as well as the bridge, and an awesome view of the ship - better than what's been released from the movie so far. My only concern with the design is that the nacelles might be too close together: the spacing doesn't seem so bad on the keychain ornament, but I did find it rather off-putting in these fan renderings.

nice find.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

I like that phaser, shades of TWOK in there.

Oh and while we're on it, check out this post. The animated trailer and the "Nacelles Monthly" cover are flippin' awesome. :)

The bridge looks much more TNG than TOS I think.

Everything about the movie has a shiny and clean quality that's more akin to a modern aesthetic than to TOS. That's to be expected from a movie released in 2009, and fairly easily explained by the "reimagining" nature of the film. What's with Nero's scepter of office, though? :?

Is that what that is? I thought it was a Romulan pool stick.

I'm really eager to see what engineering looks like. I wonder if the warp core will be a tower like in TMP and TNG, or something more compact like in TOS.

lol

Anyway, I'm really liking the new Enterprise even more so than when we saw the first glimpses.

I think these new views show that it really is a nice blend of original TOS and TOS Movie era sleekness, IMO.

I'm excited. :)

Okay, so JJ unveiled a new trailer at Wondercon. It's going to go with Watchmen and it will be out online next Monday, but JJ asked everyone present not to record it, and apparently no one did, because I can't find it anywhere on the net.

However, we do have an account of the trailer. I'm not willing to spoil the movie for myself, but I see no harm in spoiling a preview. ;)

And then Leonard McCoy says that the Enterprise has no captain and no first officer and nobody to replace them. "Yeah we do," Kirk says, sitting proudly in the captain's chair despite his black cadet shirt.
So, the entire ships chain of command is dead? Give me a break, the lowest deck seamen on the ship outranks a goddamn officer cadet. Those guys are so low they take orders from Privates.

Ok, yeah I know, keep an open mind.

I just hope they've fixed that Spock mirror-imaging goof in post production. :P
