I find it kind of odd how DS9 was 3rd. The TNG crew has Worf, who has done bomb investigations as seen in the episode Reunion, and Data who knows something about anything. The TOS crew would pretty much rely on Mr. Spock. The DS9 crew however, has Worf like TNG, Odo a brilliant investigator, Kira who has experience in planting bombs and Garek an ex-spy. They would probably catch on the fastest.

Fair enough assessment. Not sure if you're in the right forum. Still, over the TOS/TNG casts? Thats tough.

Depends how you define 'gets bombed'. If it's an IRA style lump-of-HE-in-a-letterbox job, then you've got a good point, and the DS9 crew probably would be the best choice. I interpreted it as the planet being attacked from orbit, in which case Kirk and co are probably the best bet.
