DO quote me on that...

Post by thelordharry »

Well, I've had a look around a few threads and even used the advanced search tool and can't find a thread of a similar nature so I'd like to ask you. What is your favourite quote(s) from Trek? Again, one from the whole franchise or one from each series......one that is so profound and deep, you've been patiently waiting for years to use it in a RL conversation to amaze and humble everyone with 'your' wit or philosophic nature :)

My one has to be 'Shut up Wesley!" (jk) :)

the affection of children...to leave the world a better place...to
know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is
to have succeeded.”

I like Q's quote to Picard about the glory of the universe in "Q who?"

I've also wanted to use Picards quote about the Borg to Lily in real life, though slightly modified "They invade our space and we fall back, I say no more, the line must be drawn here, no further" A modified version of that quote would be great to use in RL.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Would you use the Picard Quote to the Mrs when she's stealing the bedclothes and generally taking up too much of the bed? :)

"One damn minute, Admiral."
They say that in the Army,
the women are mighty fine.
They look like Phyllis Diller,
and walk like Frankenstein.

Ah, there are so many decent Trek quotes that can be used in real life - I sense another thread starting, or at least a thread drift.

Teaos, you're a Jeweler, surely you must have found a real life occasion to use the infamous phrase - "Its a faaaaaakee"
"You ain't gonna get off down the trail a mile or two, and go missing your wife or something, like our last cook done, are you?"
"My wife is in hell, where I sent her. She could make good biscuits, but her behavior was terrible."

Ha, hadnt thought of that but I have actually. Always amusing to tell someone their diamod ring isnt diamond. Or as the case is usually that their ruby ring isnt ruby. People tend to be very sus about buying diamonds but tend to over look the posibility of fake Rubies and emeralds.

You can always rely on Scotty for a good quote:

"Aye, sir. Before they went into warp, I transported the whole kit and kaboodle into their engine room... where they'll be no tribble at all."

"Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me,"

I never knew he had a finger missing in RL! Lost it on the beaches of Normandy in WWII. Amazing :)

If I want to sound classy and commanding at the same time, I tell people "Make it so."

I have used the phrase, "Aye, and if my grandmother had wheels, she'd be a wagon."

For some reason, I get funny looks when I say that.
