In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Re: Starfleet Dress
Not bad, but I think I'd avoid the color blocking on the tunic and stick with the cuffs and undershirt in division colors.
*EDIT* Hey, I have an idea. How about if everybody had the same uni, and indicated division, any specializations, and any decorations with pins/badges/ribbons? How come nobody has ever thought of that?

Re: Starfleet Dress
I think badges for specialisations would be a good thing, but I also agree with Starfleet's colour-coded departments. The Royal Navy does the same thing (albeit not quite as prominently) as it allows quick identification of who does what. Plus there's the US carrier deck crews' colour-coded overalls.
Only two things are infinite - the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the universe: Albert Einstein.
Re: Starfleet Dress
Carrier crews colors make more sense than Starfleets. You see someone in gold. That tells you what at a glance? He's either an engineer or tech for any number of departments, in operations, or a security guard. Not a quick ID. You'd still have to go up and talk to him.

Re: Starfleet Dress
which is the origin of this topic. yay!
I was thinking about the color coded tunic, and thought it'd be a nice change to the older versions.
Plus, my favorite soccer team has jerseys with colored trim like that so...

Re: Starfleet Dress
How about having a standard uniform with a colour band on the arms and wrist to distinguish via department?

Or just a coloured stripe somewhere on the shoulder.
