Kobayashi Maru, the newest Enterprise novel
I'm reading it now. Great stuff, has kept me busy yesterday and today. I won't talk plot, etc, due to spoilers, but continuity was great, and shed light on lots of things!
Don't you hear my call, though you're many years away, don't you hear me calling you?
Re: Kobayashi Maru, the newest Enterprise novel
When did it come out? I'd like to pick up a copy.

It and The Good That Men Do are both great novels continuing where the series left off. Next year's Romulan War novel will be great I think!
Re: Kobayashi Maru, the newest Enterprise novel
I read The Good That Men Do. That was a MUCH better ending than the show gave us.

What's this book about?
"You've all been selected for this mission because you each have a special skill. Professor Hawking, John Leslie, Phil Neville, the Wu-Tang Clan, Usher, the Sugar Puffs Monster and Daniel Day-Lewis! Welcome to Operation MindFuck!"

Re: Kobayashi Maru, the newest Enterprise novel
I'll take a shot in the dark and say it has something to do with the Kobayashi Maru.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Wow, I'd never have guessed.

Re: Kobayashi Maru, the newest Enterprise novel
Does it have to do with the "unwinable" scenario or the actual ship though?

Re: Kobayashi Maru, the newest Enterprise novel
Has to do with the Romulans capturing Klingon ships to use against the Federation, some espianoge on the part of not-dead-afterall Trip, and the Kobayashi Maru freighter being the victim of an attack. I'll have to leave it at that. I'll post a full review on the DITL review section soon.

Re: Kobayashi Maru, the newest Enterprise novel
The one thing I will say about 95% of novels released really since the end of Voyager is that the authors (except for maybe John Voornholt ) have done excellent jobs at working with each other to keep continuity. This is very true of the Titan series and the newer Enterprise books as well.
I'd say the Enterprise ones even try to correct some of the blatant goofs Berman/Bragga had or inconsistencies bound to arise due to the nature of the show being pre-TOS. For example, the Vulcans go to GREAT lengths in this to keep hidden the fact that Romulans are their genetic offshoots, so even though we see some Human/Romulan/Vulcan interaction, it's all quickly classified. Added with the fact that the Romulans refuse to show their faces to their enemies (going with their xenophobic nature), and we've got a solution to the whole Romulan thing. A perfect solution, no, but explains the shock in Balance of Terror.

Nice to know the writers give a damn.

Too bad they didn't write the episodes.
