Augments

Post by Mark »

Just got done watching this 3 parter. I think Augments make pretty good bad guys, but these guys lacked Khan's charisma. I wish we could have seen some of them in TNG and DS9 (aside from Bashir and his neurotic "think tank"). What do you all think about Augments?

They kicked those Klingon's butts pretty good.

They were presented as very one-dimensional. Khan was great because he could powerful yet subtle; the ENT Augments had none of that.

They had the super body but not the super mind...

You could almost feel sorry for Khan and see his vision for the universe, you couldny imagin these guys doing anything great.

Agreed. These guys were completely 2D.

Can't imagine them inspiring the same kind of loyalty that Khan did from his followers either.

Its not like it would have been hard to make them more human, just dont turn them into thugs, give them a brain to go with the brawn. Honesly I think ENT was mainly a failed experiment with the whole "million monkeys in front of a million type writters"

Excellent point. Even Vulcans, whom throughout the rest of the franchise I've found to be among the most interesting and complex characters around were completely without depth in Ent. Sad, very sad.

They improved considerably in seaon 4's Vulcan arc at least. Even your typical EVS characters were better depicted than they were earlier.

Thugs, but meant to be so. Clearly these guys weren't as well thought out as Serina Kaur thought out the Chrysalis children including Khan. I did enjoy the episodes immensely, however. Great, if not flawed, villians.

IDK. Their 1-D nature really turned me off to them. Khan was a great antagonist because of that degree of wit and intellect, not despite it.
