I was assuming it to be a proper battle, with both parties trying to kill each other.

Another good place to target, I would imagine is the "neck" of the ship. Blow the saucer and drive sections apart if I REALLY wanted to capture it.

Not to mention the torpedo tube. If you happen to hit when a torpedo is in tube then you are simply detonating the Torpedo warhead prematurely in the tube.
